Beijing Capital International Airport Co., Ltd. (BCIA) signed an agreement with SF Express (Group) Co., Ltd. in Beijing on Dec. 3, marking the establishment of their all-round strategic cooperation partnership.
In accordance with the agreement, the two parties will strengthen cooperation and coordination to achieve mutually beneficial win-win situation in air freight and modern logistics fields, aiming at improving their flight network and optimizing logistics warehousing condition. Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) will be built as SF Express' distribution center in North China and an important distribution center in mainland China to serve the economic construction and social development of North China and Beijing.
In the meantime, SF Airlines, a cargo airline owned by SF Express, will set up an operation base at PEK and gradually increase its capacity at the airport, preferentially launching international and regional routes from Beijing.
Both sides also have plans to develop intensive cooperation in transnational e-commerce, cold chain logistics and other fields, making PEK a major port and base in transnational e-commerce of SF Express.
PEK handled 1.84 million tonnes of cargo and mail in 2013. Despite its positive growth for ten consecutive years, the growth rate is slow. General manager of BCIA Shi Boli said PEK has actively adjusted its internal development structure, stepping up efforts to build a new growth pole in freight transport. The airport operator will continuously expand the infrastructure construction, further agglomerate the industrial chain of modern logistics service, and strive to improve functional support services, in order to attract leading modern logistics enterprises like SF Express to jointly open a new chapter of PEK's air freight transport development.
The strategic cooperation framework agreement signed between the two parties will help them form long-term and prospective strategic cooperation partnership, so as to promote their mutual support, win-win cooperation and the rapid development of their business, and enhance bilateral comprehensive competitiveness.
All the efforts will no doubt improve the rapid development of both SF Express and SF Airlines, boost the remarkable progress in PEK's air freight transport, as well as promote PEK's competitiveness in air freight transport, and strengthen the coordinated development in both civil aviation freight transport and the express delivery industry.
