Spanish national carrier links Madrid with Shanghai
Iberia launches its new Shanghai service
Iberia, the Spanish national carrier, has launched its first route to the Far East.
The airline commenced direct services from Madrid to Shanghai this week, marking the start of a period of Asian expansion that will also see Iberia start flying to Tokyo later this year. The Shanghai route will now operate three times a week, every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
And that was not the only new service connecting Madrid and Shanghai to launch this week; China Eastern Airlines has also started operating the route, offering four weekly flights every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Last month, Cathay Pacific launched services linking Hong Kong with the Spanish capital.
Iberia plans to launch direct flights between Madrid and Tokyo’s Narita Airport on 18 October 2016.
