IndiGo Airlines (6E, Delhi Int'l) has started talks with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) over a possible widebody order India's Economic Times has reported quoting sources close to the airline's operations.
According to the report, the budget carrier is considering adding at least fifty widebody aircraft as an alternative to its proposed take-over of Air India's longhaul operations, which could take some time to complete.
"Right now, it's an optimistic 50-50, but the processes are slow. The airline will wait for four-five months and then implement Plan B of inducting its own fleet of wide-bodied planes," said one of the sources.
IndiGo currently operates 118 A320ceo and twenty-seven A320neo with a further 405 A320neo and twenty-five A321neo on order from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac).
