Aegean Airlines (A3, Athens Int'l) has announced it has selected Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for its fleet renewal plans and will proceed with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for up to forty-two A320neo Family jets.
The carrier said in a statement the firm order will comprise thirty firm A320neo and A321neo jets of which at least ten will be A321neo with the ability to convert from A320neo to A321neo. The agreement will also include options for a further twelve A320neo Family aircraft.
A final purchase agreement is expected to be signed in June followed by a decision on engine manufacturer in July.
Once all contracts have been signed, deliveries are expected to take place between 2020 and 2025.
Aegean currently operates one A319-100, thirty-seven A320-200s, and ten A321-200s on flights to 94 destinations in 40 countries spanning Europe (North, South, East, West, Central), Russia & the CIS, North Africa, and the Middle East/Gulf regions.
