Gulf Air has taken delivery of its first B787-9, A9C-FA (msn 39996). The Rolls-Royce Trent 1000-powered twinjet features 282 seats in a two-class configuration, with 256 Economy Class seats and 26 Falcon Gold Class seats.
According to schedule data, it is expected to make its commercial debut with flights to Dubai Int'l and Jeddah on May 5 and 7 respectively. Thereafter, it will be deployed on flights to Riyadh from June 4, Moscow Domodedovo from June 12, London Heathrow from June 15, and Casablanca Int'l from July 9.
Gulf Air is expecting to add five B787-9s by the end of 2018 with an additional two aircraft arriving in 2019 and three in 2020. It currently operates six A330-200s which average almost 20 years of age.
