Ryanair Sun (RR, Warsaw Chopin) will rebrand as Buzz (RR, Warsaw Chopin) in autumn 2019, the carrier has announced. The airline will remain registered in Poland and continue to operate under the current Polish Air Operator's Certificate (AOC).
The Polish subsidiary of Ryanair (FR, Dublin Int'l) launched in Summer 2018, initially operating exclusively charter flights on behalf of tour operators with one in-house B737-800s and four such aircraft wet-leased from Ryanair.
As of late 2018, Ryanair Sun started taking over the operation on Ryanair's scheduled flights from Poland. It currently has seventeen B737-800s taken over from Ryanair and plans to grow the fleet to twenty-five Boeing narrowbodies before the peak of the summer season. It will deploy the aircraft on both scheduled and charter flights going forward.
In autumn, all aircraft registered in Poland will be repainted into a new livery. The company's registered name will also change "at some point", CEO Michał Kaczmarzyk clarified to ch-aviation.
Buzz (United Kingdom) (UK, London Stansted) was a British LCC set up by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL, Amsterdam Schiphol) in 1999 as a successor to KLM cityhopper UK (UK, Norwich). The airline was subsequently acquired by Ryanair in 2003 but closed as a separate entity after just one-and-a-half years.
