SPECIAL SCHEME - Hawaiian Airlines Welcomes Guests on an Exciting New Voyage with Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Moana 2”

The carrier today unveiled the first of three “Moana 2” character aircraft designs and launched the Navigate Your Own Adventure global sweepstakes

HONOLULU – Hawaiian Airlines today celebrated the upcoming epic animated musical, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Moana 2,” coming to theaters Nov. 27, by unveiling the first of three “Moana 2” aircraft designs. Hawaiian’s Airbus A330 aircraft features the courageous wayfinder Moana; the shape-shifting demigod, Maui, the small-but-menacing Kakamora, as well as a “Welcome Voyagers” message for all guests embarking on their next adventure onboard Hawaiʻi’s hometown airline.

“As modern-day voyagers, we pride ourselves in sharing our host culture and ensuring our guests are immersed in unparalleled comfort and breathtaking discovery as they travel with us across the Pacific Ocean,” said Alisa Onishi, director of brand and culture at Hawaiian Airlines. “Following the success of our first collaboration with ‘Moana,’ we are honored to reintroduce Moana, Maui, and their friends to our guests traveling between Hawaiʻi and Asia, Oceania, the U.S. continent and within the Hawaiian Islands.”

Next month, Hawaiian will reveal two additional custom character decals adorning an Airbus A321neo, which serves select U.S. markets and the Cook Islands, and a Boeing 717 aircraft, which operates between the Hawaiian Islands. The overhead luggage bins on all three “Moana 2”-themed aircraft are also being decorated with characters and artwork from the film. Guests can continue the exploration with a bespoke “Moana 2” AR experience, which will debut with the second livery reveal. The planes will fly on Hawaiian’s regularly scheduled U.S. domestic routes as well as to international destinations including American Samoa, Australia, Cook Islands, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and Tahiti through March 2025.

A wayfinding adventure with Disney’s “Moana 2

“As ‘Moana 2’ sails into theaters this Thanksgiving, we’re thrilled to team up once again with our friends at Hawaiian Airlines on such an exciting promotion that will bring Moana, Maui and their crew to new heights,” said Lylle Breier, EVP, Partnerships, Promotions, Synergy & Events at Walt Disney Studios.

To celebrate the collaboration, Hawaiian will surprise and delight guests on the first A330, A321 and Boeing B717 flights with special gifts. The airline today also announced its Navigate Your Own Adventure sweepstakes*, which kicks off today and runs through Nov. 30 for residents in the United States, Australia, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea. Five winners – one from each market – will receive 500,000 HawaiianMiles.

Hawaiian honors traditional celestial navigational practices used by early Polynesian voyagers by naming its aircraft after local birds, stars and native plants and forests. Each “Moana 2” aircraft was specially chosen based on its name:

Hōkūleʻa / Airbus A330: Hawaiian name for Hawaiʻi’s zenith star Arcturus, as well as the famed Hawaiian voyaging canoe.

Koa / Airbus A321neo: Acacia koa is the preferred wood for building Polynesian voyaging canoes.

Elepaio / Boeing 717: Native Hawaiian bird considered to be the guardian of canoe builders.

A full list of Hawaiian’s aircraft names can be found here. Follow us at @HawaiianAirlines as we reveal more exciting details about this collaboration.

FLLET / ORDER - LATAM Orders 10 787 Dreamliners to Grow Boeing Widebody Fleet

- Agreement by the region's largest 787 operator includes options for five more 787-9s

- LATAM plans to grow its 787 fleet to 52 airplanes by the end of the decade

SANTIAGO, Chile, Oct. 28, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and LATAM Airlines Group, the leading passenger and cargo airline group in South America, today announced the purchase of 10 787 Dreamliners with options for five more airplanes. As the region's largest 787 operator, this latest order for fuel-efficient 787-9 jets increases LATAM's investment in one of the most modern fleets in Latin America.

LATAM currently operates 37 787-8s and 787-9s and, including this latest order, expects to grow the fleet to 52 Dreamliners by 2030. The 787 enables the airline to maximize capacity on popular routes and launch new routes including its nonstop flight to Sydney, Australia.

"The Boeing 787 is a much more efficient aircraft, allowing us to continue growing sustainably while reducing our carbon footprint as we drive the growth of our operations. This order will enable us to receive at least two aircraft of this model each year from 2025 until the end of the decade," said Ramiro Alfonsín, Chief Financial Officer of the LATAM Airlines Group.

The 787 family offers unmatched fuel efficiency, enabling airlines to reduce fuel use and emissions by 25% compared to the airplanes they replace. The larger 787-9 extends the capacity and range of the Dreamliner family, flying more passengers and cargo farther.

"We appreciate LATAM's continued confidence in the 787 Dreamliner family to further expand its international network from hubs in Santiago, Sao Paulo and Lima," said Mike Wilson, Boeing vice president of Commercial Sales for Latin America and the Caribbean. "As demand for air travel rises, we will continue to support LATAM's growth strategy and goal of connecting Latin America with the world."

Since entering service in 2011, 787 Dreamliners have helped operators launch more than 400 new nonstop routes and avoid more than 173 billion pounds of carbon emissions.

The 2024 Boeing Commercial Market Outlook forecasts air travel in Latin America will more than double over the next 20 years, growing 5% annually. With nearly 2,300 airplane deliveries expected, the region's fleet is projected to grow to more than 3,000 airplanes by 2043.

As a leading global aerospace company, Boeing develops, manufactures and services commercial airplanes, defense products and space systems for customers in more than 150 countries. MRO Europe, Barcelona, 23 October 2024 - Czech Airlines and Smartwings have signed a long-term agreement with Airbus Flight Hour Services (FHS) to cover the rotable component support requirements for their A220-300 fleet.

FHS will provide a 360° Power By the Hour (PBH) service including a dedicated on-site-stock in Prague, access to FHS pools around the world and a comprehensive component repair service, with a particular focus on component quality and reliability thanks to Airbus’ engineering expertise and digital platform, Skywise. These help to ensure part availability and to secure aircraft technical performance by maximising operational availability.

“The conclusion of a long-term contract for the provision of FHS services is a very important step for us to ensure the smooth operation of our A220 fleet. We believe that our cooperation will be beneficial not only to us, but especially to our passengers”, said Jiri Zemek, Technical Director, Czech Airlines.
