FLEET - Czech Airlines & Smartwings choose Airbus’ Flight Hour Services (FHS) for their A220 fleet

MRO Europe, Barcelona, 23 October 2024 - Czech Airlines and Smartwings have signed a long-term agreement with Airbus Flight Hour Services (FHS) to cover the rotable component support requirements for their A220-300 fleet.

FHS will provide a 360° Power By the Hour (PBH) service including a dedicated on-site-stock in Prague, access to FHS pools around the world and a comprehensive component repair service, with a particular focus on component quality and reliability thanks to Airbus’ engineering expertise and digital platform, Skywise. These help to ensure part availability and to secure aircraft technical performance by maximising operational availability.

“The conclusion of a long-term contract for the provision of FHS services is a very important step for us to ensure the smooth operation of our A220 fleet. We believe that our cooperation will be beneficial not only to us, but especially to our passengers”, said Jiri Zemek, Technical Director, Czech Airlines.

“We are delighted that Czech Airlines and Smartwings have selected Airbus Flight Hour Services, the leading A220 PBH provider, for their new fleet. FHS' robust industrial setup and engineering expertise will help ensure a smooth entry into service and operations" said Delphine Gianoglio, Head of Airbus Services Sales, Europe.

Airbus is the leading provider of A220 Power-by-the-Hour Component Support services, with over 275 aircraft worldwide now covered. Supporting Czech Airlines, one of the oldest airlines in the world, further strengthens this market leadership and is testament to the value of Airbus Services portfolio.

The A220 is purpose-built for the 100-150 seat market, offering unparalleled fuel efficiency and passenger comfort in its category. Bringing together state-of-the-art aerodynamics, advanced materials with the latest-generation technologies and engines, the A220 offers 25% lower CO2 emissions and fuel burn per seat compared to previous generation of aircraft, along with a 50% smaller noise footprint. The aircraft's superior performance complements Czech Airlines and Smartwings’ ambition for efficient and sustainable growth.
