FLEET - Kenyan start-up Fly Mara wet-leases A321-P2F freighter

Fly Mara Airlines (Nairobi Wilson) is wet-leasing an A321-200(P2F) from Sky Vision Airlines (SE, Cairo International) after the Kenyan startup obtained an air operator's certificate (AOC) in January 2025, according to ch-aviation research.

ADS-B data shows the 21.3-year-old SU-SKF (msn 2247), arrived in Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta from Cairo International on August 19. The freighter has a maximum payload of 25 tons and will serve clients across the Gulf, Europe, and Africa from Nairobi, announced Egypt's Go Charter, which brokered the deal. The six-month wet lease includes an option to extend, a spokesman for Go Charter confirmed.

Fly Mara Airlines obtained an air operator's certificate (AOC) on January 27, 2025 (KCAA/FOPS/3010/279) valid for one year until January 26, 2026. ch-aviation has verified the document.

As previously reported, Sky Vision Airlines took delivery of the A321-200(P2F) in September 2024. The aircraft had undergone P2F conversion with ST Engineering in Singapore. Before that, it operated as a passenger jet for Asiana Airlines (OZ, Seoul Incheon) between June 2004 and November 2016, and Asiana subsidiary Air Busan (BX, Busan) between November 2016 and August 2022.

According to its website, Fly Mara Airlines also promotes flights to Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve on Safarilink Aviation (F2, Nairobi Wilson), FlyALS (Nairobi Wilson), and AirKenya (P2, Nairobi Wilson).
