Hawaiian Airlines (HA, Honolulu) has converted orders for five B787-9s to five B787-10s, with one further delivery position assumed by Boeing Customer Finance.
"We can confirm we have converted some of our B787s to -10s. We will share more details, including the number and timing of deliveries, soon," parent holding Alaska Air Group told Reuters.
The carrier currently has orders for six B787-9s, on top of four of the type it already operates, according to ch-aviation fleets data. All of the Boeing widebodies are expected to be stationed at Seattle Tacoma International to operate Alaska Airlines’ new long-haul routes to Europe and Asia.
ch-aviation data shows Hawaiian Airlines’ fleet comprises eighteen A321-200Ns, twenty-four A330-200s, ten A330-300(P2F)s, nineteen B717-200s, and four B787-9s.
Alaska Air Group’s plans at the start of 2025 were for Hawaiian Airlines to increase its fleet of B787-9s to five by the end of the year (receiving three during this period), add two more in 2026, and four in 2027.
Hawaiian Airlines was not immediately available for comment.
