Airbus ACJ318 will be highlight of LABACE

Aircraft is part of world’s most modern corporate jet family
Airbus’ ACJ318 will be the highlight of LABACE* in Sao Paulo later this month, showcasing a wider and taller cabin than any other business jet, in what is the largest market for them in Latin America.
The Airbus ACJ318 on display is offered for VVIP charter by Globaljet of Switzerland, and fits into the same ramp space as other large business jets. It carries up to 19 passengers, features a private office that converts to a bedroom, and has club seating in several spacious lounge areas.
“When it comes to business jets, it’s what you offer in the cabin that counts and, with the world’s broadest and most modern aircraft family, Airbus can offer everything from 19 seaters with intercontinental range, to VIP widebodies capable of flying government delegations nonstop to most of the world,” comments Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers, John Leahy.
Airbus has sold some 170 corporate jets to date, and its aircraft are the only ones flying on every continent, including Antarctica, highlighting their versatility. Its customers comprise companies, individuals and governments, in roughly equal measure.
All of Airbus’ corporate jet customers are united in their need for rapid and reliable transport, whether in running a multinational business or leading a country, and their ability to serve as business tools is both proven and widespread in many different markets.
In offering corporate jet versions of all of its modern aircraft family, Airbus gives customers the ability to carry more people than traditional business jets, which are limited in size, as well as giving them greater comfort and workspace in which to travel.
Like all Airbus corporate jets, the Airbus ACJ318 features intercontinental range, allowing it to serve most destinations in North and South America nonstop – as well as to reach much of the world with a single stop.

Volga-Dnepr Airlines has added a fifth new IL-76TD-90VD cargo aircraft to its fleet

Volga-Dnepr Airlines has added a fifth new IL-76TD-90VD cargo aircraft to its fleet. The modernised 50 tonnes capacity freighter will perform its first commercial flight in mid-June.

In line with Volga-Dnepr’s four previous versions of the aircraft, the new Ilyushin — tail number RA-76511 — was produced at the Chkalov Aviation Factory in Tashkent under the terms of a contract signed by OAK-Transport Aircraft and Volga-Dnepr Leasing during the Moscow Air Show in 2007.

According to Andrew Pakhomov, General Director of Volga-Dnepr Leasing, OAK and the Chkalov Factory have discharged in full their respective obligations in connection with construction of all five IL-76TD-90VDs for Volga-Dnepr Group.

He said: “At the present time a programme of further acquisitions of more IL-76TD-90VDs is being considered to reinforce Volga-Dnepr Airlines’fleet. The aircraft has successfully demonstrated its excellent performance capability in the international air cargo market and therefore Volga-Dnepr Group forecasts it needs to expand its Ilyushin fleet to 20 airplanes by 2030.”

The IL-76 modernisation programme was initiated by Volga-Dnepr Group in 2002 and the first IL-76TD-90VD was put into commercial operation in summer 2006. The IL-76TD-90VD meets all current and future ICAO standards and can operate globally without any limitations. It is powered by PS-90A-76 engines and advance avionics, including the Integrated Flight and Navigation System KUPOL-III-76MVD. Volga-Dnepr is the only carrier in the world operating a fleet of five brand new IL-76TD-90VD freighters.

Partnership with Malaysia Airlines spans 40 years

SEATTLE, Aug. 6, 2012 – Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Malaysia Airlines celebrated the direct delivery of the airline’s 75th 737 aircraft during an event at Boeing Field. The airplane, a Next-Generation 737-800, is scheduled to arrive in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Wednesday.
“The 737 has been an amazing airplane for our airline,” said Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, chief executive officer of Malaysia Airlines. “When we took off on our own as Malaysia's national airline on 1 October 1972, our inaugural jet flight from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore was operated using the 737. Since then this aircraft has been a very reliable workhorse for both our domestic and regional operations. We continue to be impressed by the 737’s consistent reliability, unmatched economics and innovation in passenger comfort.”
The airplane comes with the 787 Dreamliner-inspired Boeing Sky Interior, which features larger pivoting overhead stowage bins, larger window reveals and LED lighting to enhance the sense of spaciousness. Malaysia Airlines was the Asia launch customer for the Boeing Sky Interior in October 2010.
Malaysia Airlines took delivery of its first 737 in 1972 and has operated the 737-200, 737-300, 737-400, 737-500 and 737-800.
“We’re proud of our 40 years of partnership with Malaysia’s leading airline,” said Dinesh Keskar, senior vice president of Asia Pacific and India Sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “With its new five star Skytrax rating and award for best cabin crew, passengers will have a first-class in-flight experience on board their brand new 737.”
The Next-Generation 737 family has won more than 6,600 orders and has a diverse backlog exceeding 2,600 airplanes. Malaysia Airlines has an additional 35 737s on order.
With more than 5,550 airplanes in service, the 737 family represents more than a quarter of the total worldwide fleet of large commercial jets flying today. More than 358 airlines in 114 countries fly 737s.
About the Malaysia Airlines and Boeing Partnership
Malaysia Airlines initially ordered six Boeing 737-200s to kick start its operations on 1 October 1972. The first of six aircraft arrived in Malaysia on 23 July 1972.
By 1987, a total of 13 737-200s were in the airline’s fleet. Subsequently a total of 52 737s from the -300, -400 and -500 series were introduced into the airline’s network between 1992 and 1995.
On 31 March 2008, Malaysia Airlines announced its decision to purchase the Next-Generation 737-800 with a firm order for 35 airplanes and a further purchase option for 20 such aircraft.
The first 737-800 arrived in Kuala Lumpur in November 2010, and on 21 June 2011 the airline exercised its option to purchase another 10 737-800s.
To date, Malaysia Airlines has taken delivery of ten of the 45 737-800s through direct purchase. The latest delivery in August 2012 makes it the 75th 737 delivered to Malaysia Airlines over the 40 years.

UNITED AIRLINES UNVEILS FIRST 787 DREAMLINER

CHICAGO, Aug. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines today unveiled its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which will revolutionize the flying experience for United customers and crews while delivering unprecedented operating efficiency, comfort and lower emissions. The airline showcased its first 787, fresh out of the paint hangar at Boeing's Everett, Wash., facility. United is the North American launch customer for the Dreamliner, and expects to take delivery of its first 787 in September. The airline has firm orders for 50 787s, for delivery by 2019.

Primarily built with composite materials, the 787 has 30 percent more range and uses approximately 20 percent less fuel than similarly-sized aircraft, while reducing emissions and noise during takeoffs and landings. With these advantages, the 787 will open up new non-stop destinations that customers would not be able to otherwise reach on United, such as the recently-announced Denver-to-Tokyo service that starts next spring.

The aircraft cabin is configured with 36 seats in United BusinessFirst, 72 seats in United Economy Plus and 111 seats in United Economy. Customers will be more comfortable with improved lighting, bigger windows, larger overhead bins, lower cabin altitude and enhanced ventilation systems, among other features. The 787's inflight entertainment system features an all-new design that offers more intuitive browsing and more filtering options, giving customers the option of searching for programs by language.

United's unveiling provided the first look at the aircraft's interior and customized livery that is exclusive to the fleet, featuring a gold line that wraps the fuselage and swoops from nose to tail. The livery is inspired by the trademark swoop painted on each of Boeing's aircraft and is being adopted for the United 787 in a tribute to the two companies' long history of working together.
On Tuesday, United also aired a live-stream webcast of the airline's first 787 rolling out of the paint facility in Everett. Photos and video from today's event as well as the live-stream webcast from Tuesday's rollout are available for download in the media center on unitedcontinentalholdings.com under "United 787 Dreamliner Interior and Exterior.

A350 XWB “MSN1” flight-deck comes to life

Proving early readiness of aircraft systems a year before its first flight

Airbus has successfully powered-up the flight-deck of A350 XWB “MSN1” for the first time, following the initial application of electrical power to the aircraft’s front fuselage. This significant milestone was passed only two weeks after this section was delivered to the Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Toulouse. Moreover, it gives a promising indication of the A350 XWB’s progress in pre-FAL and the readiness of the aircraft’s systems.
Flight-deck power-on is an important step on the route to complete aircraft power-on and first flight, because it enables most systems functional checking to be undertaken. Having achieved this nearly a year before first flight will allow early identification and resolution of potential issues and thus help to protect the aircraft’s development schedule. Testing of the front fuselage section will proceed during this summer. This will be followed by the power-on of the entire fuselage later this year

This deal strengthens Embraer’s position as the absolute market leader in Latin America and the Caribbean, where it holds 75% of the commercial aviation market in the segment of jets up to 120 seats, compared to a worldwide average of 43%.

Conviasa’s new E190s will be comfortably configured with 104 seats, in a single-class layout. At present, the airline serves 14 domestic and nine international destinations.
