FLEET - CVsky, Avation ink ATR72-600 lease

Cabo Verde's state-owned domestic carrier Linhas Aéreas de Cabo Verde (LACV), trading as CVsky (7B, Praia), has added a new ATR72-600 to its fleet under a 12-year operating lease with Singapore-based Avation, the parties confirmed in separate statements.

The deal marks the lessor's entry into the African market, Avation said, adding that the lease is backed by a sovereign guarantee from the Cabo Verde government. The aircraft, msn 1829, was handed over to CVsky at ATR - Avions de Transport Régional's production facility in Toulouse on October 7, it said. It is already registered in Cabo Verde as D4-CCP, according to ch-aviation data.

CVsky, in a separate statement carried by Portuguese news agency Lusa, said the turboprop would undergo preparation before being flown to Cabo Verde, where it is expected to arrive at the end of October.

The lease follows the government's September 29 approval of a sovereign guarantee of up to USD3.7 million for the aircraft. The guarantee runs for eight years, while the lease with Avation-linked AVAP Leasing (Atlantic) Pte. Ltd. covers 144 months.

The deal is the first phase of a planned two-aircraft fleet expansion. A second ATR72-600, msn 1830, is expected from early 2027, subject to a separate government guarantee.

CVsky already operates two ATR72-600s and wet leases one ATR72-500 from Global Aviation (Mauritania) (MSS, Nouakchott).
