December 20 confirmed as Vanilla Air launch date

Vanilla Air has set December 20 as its official launch date when the carrier previously known as AirAsia Japan will resume operations under a new brand. It has suspended operations as AirAsia Japan at the end of last month following a dispute between joint venture partner AirAsia and ANA - All Nippon Airways. Now fully owned by ANA, it will resume scheduled services in December under its new brand and with new aircraft given its previous A320-200s have been returned to AirAsia and will be redeployed with other AirAsia group carriers. Vanilla's first A320-200 JA01VA (cn 5844) is due to be delivered from Airbus Industrie later this month and will initially operate daily from Tokyo Narita to Okinawa Naha and Taipei Taoyuan from December 20. Eight days later a second aircraft will allow it to increase the frequency on its Okinawa route to three times daily. From January 29, Sapporo Chitose will be introduced as its third destination and also be served three times per day. Vanilla then plans to add Seoul Incheon as a fourth destination from March 1.
