RAVSA Venezolan has been left with only one operational aircraft, an MD-82, YV514T (msn 49511), after its other jets, five B737-200Advs and one MD-83, were grounded by the Venezuela's National Institute of Civil Aviation (Instituto Nacional de Aeronáutica Civil - INAC). The grounding came about after RAVSA failed to comply with strict maintenance schedules. Owing to the operational shortfall and its associated delays, RAVSA has now begun restricting the sale of tickets in a bid to clear its backlog of flights. Sources close to the airline say morale has now hit rock bottom with some pilots, mechanics and flight attendants having resigned from their positions.
