Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok) says it is on track to take delivery of its first A350-900 from Airbus Industrie (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) in February of next year. The carrier, which has twenty-two A350-900s on order, will use the jets to replace its outgoing fleet of five B777-200(ER)s and ten A340-300s used to serve destinations throughout Asia, Australasia, and Russia.
In an interview with the New Zealand Herald, Cathay Pacific's General Manager Product, Toby Smith, said the type would feature 38 business-class seats, 28 premium-economy seats, and 214 in economy class.
Cathay also has twenty-six A350-1000s on order which will be used to replace its fleet of three B747-400s and twelve B777-300s as well as some of its forty-eight B777-300(ER)s when deliveries eventually begin.
