Jetstar Japan launched its latest routes on 19 December, the day in which the LCC began daily services from both Tokyo Narita (NRT) and Osaka Kansai (KIX) to Kōchi (KCZ), an airport situated on the southern Japanese island of Shikoku

The 661-kilometre route from Narita and short 174-kilometre hop from Kansai to Kōchi will both be flown using the airline’s fleet of 180-seat A320s, with OAG Schedules Analyser data indicating that neither route will face direct competition. It should be noted however that Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways already offer five daily flights each between Tokyo Haneda and Kōchi. All Nippon Airways also offers six daily flights from Osaka Itami to Kōchi using its fleet of Q400s. Jetstar Japan’s new routes will add an extra 5,040 weekly two-way seats to the Kōchi market. Overall, there are now six routes on offer from Kōchi, with services to Nagoya and Fukuoka are also available.
