AIRLINE HISTORY DEFUNCT - SkyKing Airlines, historically known as Sky King, Inc., was a US-based charter carrier that specialized in private ad-hoc flights, casino charters, and US-Cuba routes.

The airline ceased all operations and officially rebranded as Songbird Airways

Founded in 1990 and originally based in Sacramento, California, the airline was named in honor of its first customer, the NBA’s Sacramento Kings.

Operating a fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft, the charter carrier, based at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Florida, flew extensively on behalf of Customer Service Providers to Cuba and also operated deportee flights for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy multiple times—notably in 2010, 2012, and 2022—before officially being acquired by AerLine Holdings LLC.Rebranding: In 2015, the US Department of Transportation approved Sky King's corporate name change to Songbird Airways, a brand under which it continued limited operations before eventually folding.

 C&T Charters is a Miami-based company specializing in licensed charter flights from the U.S. to Cuba. Founded in June 1991 by businessman John Henry Cabanas, it holds the necessary OFAC licenses and has used aircraft that were historically operated by SkyKing Airlines (later operating as Songbird Airways) on routes to Havana and Camagüey.
