For sale: Norse Atlantic Airways
If you have some spare change and ambitions, it seems Norse Atlantic Airways is for sale. According to Bloomberg, the airline has appointed JP Morgan to facilitate a sale in the upcoming months.
Because of rising fuel costs and geopolitical tensions, Norse has been carrying-out a restructuring programme. One part of that plan was to cut costs by reducing non-flying staff but another part to seek a strategic way forward through a sale, merger or close partnership. It now seems selling the airline is the preferred way forward.
Norse Atlantic Airways was founded in February 2021, and launched operations in June 2022. It currently consists of two operating companies, one in Norway and one in the UK.
On the Norwegian Air Operator's Certificate (AOC), it has eight Boeing B787-9s, of which six are currently wet-leased to IndiGo. The UK AOC has four B787-9s.
Apart from flying for third parties like IndiGo, the airline is flying from London-Gatwick to Bangkok, Cape Town, New York-JFK (NY), and Orlando (FL). From Oslo and Stockholm Norse is serving Bangkok and Phuket, while it flies from Athens and Rome-Fiumicino to New York-JFK (NY).
