FLEET - Swiss to phase-out all A220s

Swiss's Chief Financial Officer announced that the airline has decided to optimize its European fleet, focusing on the Airbus A320neo and A321neo. This move is part of an effort to achieve greater efficiency, necessary due to rising costs.

As a result of this new fleet strategy, the airline will retire its A220 fleet. Earlier this year, Swiss had already decided to use two of its A220-100s as a source of spare parts, dismantling them. Now, the remaining seven A220-100s will be completely withdrawn from service by the end of 2027. According to the Chief Financial Officer, the 21 A220-300s should begin to be decommissioned in the 2030s.
