FLEET -Germany's flyv confirms Flyellow partner for late 3Q25 debut
Virtual carrier flyv (Germany) (Stuttgart) has confirmed that German AOC holder Flyellow will operate its charter and on-demand services under the flyvbird brand between select German regional airports from September 1, 2025, with a dedicated Cessna (single turboprop) Grand Caravan EX (C208B), D-FEIC (msn 208B5307). As reported earlier by ch-aviation, routes will connect Friedrichshafen, Mönchengladbach, Münster/Osnabrück, and Berlin Strausberg. Plans also exist for additional aircraft and routes.

ROUTES - ITA Airways eyes long-haul network expansion
ITA Airways (AZ, Rome Fiumicino) plans to expand its long-haul network as part of a new five-year business strategy extending through 2030. The Italian flag carrier is targeting new routes from Rome Fiumicino to North America, South America, Asia, and Africa, which will be fed by an expanding short-haul network.
The carrier intends to facilitate the growth by adding one new widebody aircraft each year, starting in 2026. "The fleet is expected to average around 100 aircraft, which by 2030 will be entirely composed of new-generation models," it announced.
The airline already operates 100 aircraft (of which 18 are currently inactive, ch-aviation data shows), although 32 units are of previous generations. All up, ITA's fleet comprises twelve A220-100s, thirteen A220-300s, ten A319-100s, seventeen A320-200s, nineteen A320-200N, seven A321-200NX(LR)s, five A330-200s, eleven A330-900Ns, and six A350-900. It expects the delivery of three A220-300s, eleven A320-200Ns, two A321-200NX(LR)s, six A330-900Ns, and two A350-900s, which will allow it to phase out the A320ceo and A330ceo.
ITA Airways is eying United Airlines hubs New York Newark and Houston Intercontinental for its future US expansion, while it also aims to strengthen cooperation with Aerolíneas Argentinas on the already operated Buenos Aires Ministro Pistarini service, the newspaper Corriere della Sera reported in June citing unnamed industry sources.
The carrier is reportedly considering launching new services to Mumbai International, Singapore Changi, Osaka Kansai, hubs of Star Alliance members Air India, Singapore Airlines, and ANA - All Nippon Airways, respectively.
Corriere della Sera reported that Lagos and Abidjan are also on ITA's radar in terms of its African network. Currently, it serves Cairo International, Tunis, Algiers, Accra, and Dakar Blaise Diagne International on the continent, all with narrowbody aircraft.
ITA Airways wants to leverage synergies with the airlines in Lufthansa Group and become a member of Star Alliance in 2026. It also aims to enter the transatlantic A++ joint venture with Lufthansa, United Airlines, and Air Canada.

FLEET - US’s Samaritan’s Purse purchases one B767-300F
Samaritan's Purse (NSP, Boone, NC) has purchased a B767-300F from AFG Aviation Ireland, the lessor announced.
The aircraft, N367SP (msn 33510), was already introduced into Samaritan’s Purse’s fleet in February 2025. It is the first of the type for the US-based evangelical Christian organisation. It will replace the 56.5-year-old DC-8-72(CF), which the operator plans to retire in late 2025.
The aircraft is used for in-house freighter operations alongside a B757-200(PCF), with both providing heavy airlift capacity to deliver aid worldwide, the organisation told ch-aviation in March.
N367SP is a 19.5-year-old aircraft that operated between 2006 and 2011 for ANA - All Nippon Airways and between 2011 and 2024 for Express Freighters Australia.
The organisation’s fleet comprises the two Boeing freighters, one DC-8-72(CF), one Falcon 900EX, two G550s, one SkyCourier 408 (with two more on order¨), one Bell 407, one Bell 412, two CN-212-200s, one Cessna 172, one Cessna 182E, one Cessna A185F, one Cessna 208, five Cessna 208Bs, two Daher Kodiak 100s, one Daher Kodiak 200, one DHC-8-300, one King Air B200, two King Air B350s, and one Piper PA-18.

FLEET - Pakistan's Air Karachi mulls leasing C919s for launch
Air Karachi is considering leasing up to three C919s as it firms up plans to launch domestic flights.
The start-up's chairman, Hanif Gohar, told reporters on July 25 that using the COMAC aircraft type would mean lower operating costs, adding that the cost of acquiring the Chinese-built narrowbodies is nearly half that of comparable Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
Lower leasing costs would allow savings to be passed on to Air Karachi's customers, potentially allowing for a 40% reduction in airfares, he said, according to the business news site ProPakistani. The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) also reportedly confirmed there are no regulatory barriers to using Chinese aircraft. However, the C919 is not yet certified anywhere outside mainland China except for Hong Kong.
According to Gohar, the C919s would initially be flown by Chinese pilots while their Pakistani counterparts are trained. Efforts are in hand to import flight simulators and spare engines, he said. The carrier did not immediately respond to queries from ch-aviation on the number of aircraft it is hoping to lease or when it anticipates launching flights.
While Air Karachi has yet to obtain its air operator's certificate (AOC), the PCAA has issued it a regular passenger transport (RPT) licence, a precursor to acquiring an AOC, which permits the would-be airline to continue developing plans to launch.
The start-up is a joint venture involving local business leaders and corporate investors, apparently led by Atif Ikram Sheikh, president of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Investors have pledged seed funding of PKR5 billion rupees (USD18 million), with further financing to be arranged. The airline intends to operate with three leased aircraft on domestic sectors before expanding to international routes.
