Asiana Airlines will fly its Airbus A380 to New York for the first time this summer.
From June 13, 2015, the South Korean carrier will operate the A380 three times a week between Seoul's Incheon International Airport and New York's JFK Airport, replacing the Boeing 777 that currently serves the trans-Pacific route.
The outbound flights will depart Seoul every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 10:20 a.m., arriving in New York at 11:10 a.m. the same day, having crossed the International Date Line. The return services will then leave JFK on the same days at 1:25 p.m., arriving back at Incheon at 4:35 p.m. the following day.
Then from July 15 to October 24, 2015, the frequency of the A380 flights will increase to daily.
Asiana currently operates two A380s and has a further four on order. All these double-decker jets will come equipped with 495 seats in three classes - 12 in first class, 66 in business class and 417 on economy.
Asiana currently operates its A380s to Los Angeles, and will continue to do so this summer, along with the New York service.
