Ukraine's Windrose Airlines takes first ATR72-600

Windrose Airlines (7W, Kyiv Boryspil) took delivery of its first ATR72-600 on June 25 and deployed the turboprop on scheduled domestic routes on June 27.

UR-RWA (msn 1178), a 5.8-year-old ex-Firefly (FY, Penang) aircraft, is dry-leased from Nordic Aviation Capital. It was ferried to Kyiv Boryspil after maintenance at Bydgoszcz on June 25. Since June 27, it has been used on routes from the Ukrainian capital gateway to Lviv and Odesa, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows.

The aircraft is the first of six ATR72-600s due for delivery to the Ukrainian carrier. The next two aircraft, ex-Nesma Airlines (Saudi Arabia) (NA, Hail) units msn 1352 and 1371, are undergoing maintenance at Woensdrecht and Mönchengladbach, respectively. The ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows they are both owned by DAE Capital.

The addition of Avions de Transport Régional aircraft is part of Windrose's plan to expand domestic routes from Kiev. The airline has thus far focused on serving domestic routes from Dnipro and leisure international flights. Until last year, it also operated under a long-term wet-lease agreement for Ukraine International Airlines (PS, Kyiv Boryspil). Windrose's fleet also includes one A320-200, four A321-200s, and five E145s.
