Spain's Air Europa exercises option for eight B787-9s

Air Europa has exercised an option with Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) for eight B787-9s the carrier has confirmed. It already has eight B787-8s on order expected to be delivered from 2016. Air Europa currently operates a long-haul fleet of 11 A330-200s and two A330-300s. It mainly uses the aircraft on routes to the Americas where it currently serves Buenos Aires Ezeiza, Cancún, Caracas Simón Bolivar, Havana Int'l, La Romana, Lima, Montevideo, New York JFK, Punta Cana, Salvador, Santa Cruz Viru Viru, Santo Domingo Las Américas and São Paulo Guarulhos. Air Europa plans to further increase its frequencies and route network in Latin America over the coming years
