Conviasa has now wet-leased an AirAsia X A340-300 to cover an operational deficit on its long-haul routes.
ch-aviation research shows 9M-XAC (cn 278) was recently in service on Conviasa's Caracas Simón Bolivar to Buenos Aires Ezeiza and Madrid Barajas routes replacing a Hi Fly A310-300, CS-TEX, and a Dynamic Airways B767-200(ER), N767DA (msn 23213).
With its own A340-200 currently parked at Bordeaux awaiting clearance of unpaid maintenance debts, so the Venezuelan national carrier has been forced to outsource its widebody needs to foreign ACMI providers. However, these operations are being severely hampered by the ongoing foreign currency liquidity crunch currently affecting the South American petrostate.
