AIRLINE - Norwegian to acquire Nordic Leisure Travel Group

Norwegian announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Nordic Leisure Travel Group, a company owning travel brands like Ving, Spies, and Sunclass Airlines.

With this deal, Norwegian is set to incorporate a third airline-brand into its group. Previously, in January 2024, the company also finalized the acquisition of Widerøe.

Sunclass Airlines' history dates back to January 1994 when it was founded as Premiair. In 2002, the airline was rebranded into MyTravel Airways Scandinavia, mirroring the brand of its UK-owner. In May 2008, the airline was rebranded again, this time as Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia as Thomas Cook acquired MyTravel.

After the demise of Thomas Cook in October 2019, investors bought various pieces, including the airline, which was rebranded into Sunclass Airlines in December 2019.

Today, the airline has its main base at Copenhagen-Kastrup but also operates from other airports in Scandinavia. It does so with its all-Airbus fleet that is made-up of six A321s, three A321neos, and three A330-900s.
