NEW AIRLINE - Mada Airways, almost ready to launch
The first local airline to be created since Middle East Airlines (MEA) was granted its monopoly in 1969 plans to operate exclusively from Rene Moawad Airport in Qleiaat after its rehabilitation.
A new Lebanese airline is preparing to enter the market: Mada Airways, the sister company of IBEX Air Charter, a private jet and charter flight operator based in Beirut and Congo. The carrier is awaiting its license and the rehabilitation of Rene Moawad Airport in Qleiaat, Akkar, to launch operations.Mada Airways plans to move into scheduled commercial aviation and to operate exclusively from the northern airport. This development comes as Lebanon’s aviation market enters a new phase, following the expiry of Middle East Airlines' (MEA) long-standing exclusivity agreement earlier this year, which had granted the national carrier a monopoly over the local market since 1969
The airline is expected to begin operations with Airbus A320 aircraft and target budget-conscious travelers
