ROUTES - Korean Air with Boeing 787-10 to Amsterdam
FLEET / ROUTES - India's IndiGo to debut European routes in early 3Q25
The airline has not revealed from which Indian airport it will serve the two routes. IndiGo plans to operate each of them 3x weekly and does not rule out the possibility of increasing the frequencies before the year's end, contingent on the arrival of additional widebody aircraft.
ch-aviation research shows that IndiGo did not previously apply for slots at Manchester for the Summer 2025 season, and has yet to acquire or lease them.
Manchester does not currently have any direct scheduled services to India, except for 2x weekly TUI Airways scheduled charters to Goa Mopa. On the other hand, Amsterdam has direct flights to Mumbai International and Bengaluru International operated by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. The Dutch flag carrier and Air India also connect the city with Delhi International.
IndiGo recently signed damp-lease agreements with Norse Atlantic Airways for four B787-9s. The first aircraft, LN-FNC (msn 38790), entered into revenue service on the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi route on March 1.
The Indian carrier operates 406 aircraft, including narrowbody jets and turboprops. It has a further 925 aircraft on order, mainly for A320neo Family aircraft, with the exception of thirty A350-900s. The delivery of the first A350 for IndiGo, its first in-house widebody, is scheduled for 2027. The airline is in discussions with Airbus about an acceleration of deliveries.
IndiGo plans to open more routes to Europe with the arrival of the A350s and A321-200NY(XLR)s, of which the airline has 69 on order.

SPECIAL LIVERY - SWISS to fly Freddie Mercury, Helvetia and a marmot all over the world
The special livery that Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) will be applying to its first Airbus A350-900 is a playful, creative and story-packed homage to Switzerland that blends imposing structures with further famous landmarks and motifs of traditional arts and sports events. Each of its illustrations captures a facet of SWISS’s home country to tell the story of its places, its people and their culture. And its ‘Wanderlust’ name communicates our yearning to travel, discover and explore the wider world.
A homage to Switzerland “This special livery is our flying declaration of our love for Switzerland,” says SWISS Chief Commercial Officer Heike Birlenbach. “It’s a confirmation of how close we feel to our home country; and it’s an invitation to everyone to discover and explore it in all its uniqueness in a playful and creative way. We’re proud to present Switzerland in all its diversity all over the world in such a special way.”
A livery to discover – with prizes, too
The special livery’s design elements are more than just images: they’re a gateway to the fascinating interactive experience ‘SWISS Treasure Hunt’. All the illustrations which will be carried on the aircraft can be explored using augmented reality (AR) at swiss.com/treasurehunt. Users of this feature can discover hidden details, solve intriguing puzzles and – with a little luck – win the top prize of a round-trip Business Class flight for two aboard the new SWISS Airbus A350.
New aircraft, new era
When it receives its first Airbus A350-900, SWISS will be taking off into a new era of even greater efficiency and even more sustainability. The airline will take delivery of ten of these advanced and fuel-efficient long-haul twinjets over the next few years. The first aircraft, sporting the special ‘SWISS Wanderlust’ livery, should enter service in late summer of this year – with Freddie, Helvetia and the marmot on board.

FLEET - UK's Jet2 to wet-lease summer capacity due to Airbus delays
The airline expected to take delivery of 14 new owned and leased A321-200NX aircraft by the end of Summer 2025, upping its A321neo fleet to 23 units, parent holding Jet2 plc revealed in a February 19 trading update on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).
"Unfortunately, a number of these aircraft will be delayed from their agreed delivery dates and consequently we expect to incur additional operational costs to cover aircraft gaps in the peak summer flying programme," it added.
Jet2 did not immediately respond to queries from ch-aviation on who it will be leasing capacity from or what types it is seeking. It has previously wet-leased in capacity from the likes of Croatia's ETF Airways, Slovakia's AirExplore, and UK's Titan Airways.
The airline first placed an order for thirty-six A321neo, with options for an additional twenty-four, in August 2021, but has since gradually increased its commitment. It currently has 134 unfilled orders for A321neo directly from Airbus. The aircraft are due to replace the airline's fleet of B737-300s and B737-800s.
According to the ch-aviation fleets module, Jet2's fleet comprises 118 aircraft, including three A321-200s, fourteen AC321-200NX, one A330-200 wet-leased from AirTanker, seven B737-300s, and ninety-three B737-800s (with one still to be delivered). The UK leisure holding was the last UK-based operator of passenger-configured B757-200s, with its last three units being placed into long-term storage in January 2025.

NEW AIRLINE - India's Shankh Air hopeful of first aircraft in late 1Q25
"In all probability, we are expecting our first aircraft to arrive by March 2025," said Anurag Chhabra. "We will be leasing at least two aircraft to start with and will take the count to five within the first year of operations as per the conditions laid down by Directorate General of Civil Aviation. [...] We have secured a full-service national carrier licence, and hence, to start with, we are looking for only jet aircraft."
Earlier this year, ch-aviation reported that Shankh Air was planning a May 2025 launch using A320-200s. However, the DGCA has not yet issued the airline its air operator's certificate. Chhabra also told the newspaper that the leasing market was tight but that he was confident of securing the aircraft he needs despite the short timeline.
In response to ch-aviation inquiries, a Shankh Air spokesperson said they were reviewing the technical aspects of an aircraft but declined to say more, citing a non-disclosure agreement.
Initially, Shankh Air plans to operate scheduled services from Lucknow to Delhi International, followed by flights from Lucknow to Mumbai International. The publicised fleet plan is to acquire five A320-200s this year and another ten in 2026.
FLEET - Indonesia's Pelita Air trims 2025 delivery expectations
Delivery delays have scuttled plans for six additional A320s at Pelita Air (IP, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) this year, with Commercial Director Asa Perkasa telling Jakarta's Bisnis news outlet that the carrier is now expecting four.
"The [first] aircraft will arrive at the end of June," he said. "The hope is that it can serve during school holidays. Three more will be delivered in the fourth quarter, so around October, November, December." He says the delivery cuts are due to "limited supply from manufacturers."
Ahead of the arrivals, Pelita Air presently operates twelve A320-200s alongside a single ARJ85 and four ATR - Avions de Transport Régional (EVX, Toulouse Blagnac) turboprops, the latter aircraft tasked to support the oil and resources operations of Pelita parent PT Pertamina. According to the ch-aviation PRO airlines module, Pelita Air operates scheduled flights to 13 Indonesian airports.
Perkasa said that despite receiving fewer aircraft than expected this year, Pelita Air remains optimistic about its planned expansion. He said the airline plans to increase its eastern flying, with new routes to Denpasar, Sorong Domine Eduard Osok, Praya Lombok International, and Kendari.
Pelita Air is also planning its first international flights to Singapore Changi.

FLEET - Oman's SalamAir to defer E2s pending P&W engine fixes
SalamAir (OV, Muscat) will postpone the introduction of its new E195-E2s due to problems with Pratt & Whitney PW1900G engines. Deliveries of the new aircraft were initially planned for the end of 2023 but will be deferred to 2026 or 2027.
Embraer told the Brazilian aviation news site Airway in a statement that the manufacturer had recommended that SalamAir not take delivery of the E2s yet as Pratt & Whitney is working on an upgrade for the GTF powerplant. The new modifications to the engines are expected to make them more resilient to the harsh conditions in the Middle East, primarily dust ingestion.
ch-aviation reached out to SalamAir and Embraer for comment but did not receive an answer by the time this article was published.
The Muscat-based airline signed a firm order with Embraer for six E195-E2s in June 2022. The new regional jets are expected to be equipped with 135 seats in a dual-class configuration. SalamAir has options for six more aircraft.
The low-cost carrier recently issued a call for ten A320s.
According to the ch-aviation fleets module, SalamAir currently operates 14 aircraft, including six A320-200Ns, five A321-200Ns, and two A321-200NX(LR)s, as well as one A321-200(P2F), which has been parked since July 2024.

FLEET - Copa Airlines eyes increased MAX deliveries in 2025
“We are okay with the delivery schedule. We expect 13 aircraft this year, mostly in the second half, with two in June and the rest later. Some will be activated in early 2026,” he said during the company’s fourth-quarter investor call.
Additionally, the carrier expects one more B737-800(BCF) for cargo unit Wingo (Panama), closing the year with an all-Boeing B737 fleet of 126 aircraft.
In the previous quarterly results, Copa Holdings said the company was expecting eleven B737-8s in 2025 and would close the year with a fleet of 123 planes. This number was a decrease of three of the expected B737 MAX units versus the original expectation of fourteen deliveries in 2025; thus, the newly revised guidance is still below those levels.
Nonetheless, the delivery schedule has several production ramp-up assumptions that need to materialise for Boeing to deliver the expected number of aircraft, Heilbron told ch-aviation in an exclusive interview in late 2024.
Copa Holdings (which includes subsidiaries Wingo and Wingo (Colombia)) posted a net profit of USD608.5 million in 2024. According to the ch-aviation fleets module, it currently operates a fleet in Panama of 112 airframes - fifty-eight B737-800s, thirty-two B737-9s, nine B737-700s, three B737-8s, and one B737-800(BCF) - while Copa Airlines Colombia (P5, Bogotá) operates nine B737-800s under the Wingo (Colombia) brand.
FLEET - MSC Air Cargo wet-leases B747 freighters from Atlas Air
MSC Air Cargo (Geneva) has introduced two B747 freighters chartered from Atlas Air (5Y, New York JFK) on routes from Amsterdam Schiphol to Seoul Incheon and Tokyo Narita via Milan Malpensa, according to a February schedule published by the Swiss cargo specialist and virtual carrier.
The 12-year-old B747-8F N854GT (msn 37566) operates 2x weekly to Seoul, according to ADS-B data and the company's schedule. Flights to Japan operate weekly with Atlas Air's B747-400FSCD N45OPA (msn 30808).
MSC Air Cargo already charters four B777-200Fs from Atlas Air, which are deployed weekly between Budapest and Ezhou in China; weekly between Liège and Ezhou; 2x weekly between Liege and Karaganda in Kazakhstan; and weekly between Maastricht and Hong Kong International.
ADS-B data shows that the aircraft in question are N707GT (msn 67992), N708GT (msn 67993), N709GT (msn 67994), and N710GT (msn 67995).
Atlas Air's fleet includes sixty-two B747 freighters of various variants and eight B777-200Fs, as well as thirteen B767 freighters and seven B737-800(BCF)s, according to the ch-aviation fleets module.
FLEET - JetSMART Argentina receives its first Airbus A321
According to JetSMART, the A321neo will allow the company to increase in 86% the availability of domestic flight seats and in 13% on the international operations. According to Estuardo Ortiz (CEO of the airline) “in the last six months we increased our local fleet -Argentina- in 65% and that is just the beginning of our planning for this year”
The plane (Airbus A321-271NX) is registered CC-AWW (c/n 11209) and named Delfin Mular (hence the dolphin decoration in its tail). It was registered in Chile in March 2023. It has 240 seats that are covered with the environmentally friendly Eleather, which reduces fuel consumption by US$10,000 per year.
