Scoot moves into Middle East with Jeddah flights

LCC to take over Singapore Airlines' services to Jeddah

Singapore-based Scoot has revealed plans to launch its first ever flights to the Middle East.

From 2 May 2016, the low-cost carrier will offer three daily direct services between Singapore and the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah. Flights will run every Monday, Thursday and Saturday using a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.

Scoot’s services will replace Singapore Airlines’ existing flights to Jeddah, which operate via Dubai. This will reduce the total flight time by about four hours.

The outbound flight, TZ591, will depart Singapore’s Changi Airport at 2150 and arrive in Jeddah at 1215. The return service, TZ592, will then take off at 1640 and arrive back in Singapore at 2040.

Scoot’s B787-8 will offer 335 seats in two cabin classes; 21 in the premium economy-style ScootBiz cabin and 314 in economy class. The aircraft also includes a ‘ScootinSilence’ section for passengers seeking more peace and quiet.

The aircraft will mark capacity increase of 50 seats per flight compared to the 285-seat Airbus A330 that SIA currently operates on the Jeddah route.



Jeddah will become the 18th destination in Scoot’s network and Saudi Arabia will mark the eighth country or territory served by the airline, not including Singapore.
