Garuda Indonesia has transferred its UK service from London Gatwick to London Heathrow (LHR)
On 31 March the SkyTeam carrier began flying from Jakarta (CGK) via Singapore to Europe’s busiest airport, with return flights operating non-stop. Jubi Prasetyo, GM UK & Ireland, Garuda Indonesia, said: “Making the move to Heathrow Airport has been an ambition of ours since joining SkyTeam in March 2014. Heathrow’s pivotal role in servicing the alliance’s 1,052 destinations makes it an ideal departure airport for our passengers. Flying non-stop direct to Jakarta means we will truly be the most efficient way to reach Indonesia from the UK.” The five times weekly service will be flown by the carrier’s 777-300ERs and faces no direct competition. Apart from London, Garuda also serves Amsterdam in Europe, with six weekly flights.
