KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has started flying its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to Xiamen, China, to celebrating the 5th anniversary of its Xiamen route.
The Dutch national carrier deployed the stretched Dreamliner on its thrice weekly flights from Amsterdam to Xiamen, replacing previous 777-200 aircraft. The inaugural flight landed at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport on March 30, marking the first landing ot 787-9 at the airport.
The Dreamliner was welcomed by traditional water cannon upon arrival. KLM and Xiamen Airport held a grand ceremony to celebrate the 5-year anniversary of Amsterdam-Xiamen route.
KLM's 787-9 Dreamliner is configured with 294 seats in a three-class layout, including 30 flat-bed seats in business class, 48 seats in premium economy and 216 seats in economy.
Also in this week, the Dutch national carrier deployed the new long-haul jet on its thrice weekly services from Amsterdam to Chengdu and Hangzhou.
Currently, KLM operates 30 weekly flights to five destinations in mainland China, namely Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Xiamen. And from July 5, KLM will add a fourth weekly flight to Chengdu, operating every Tuesday.
